Companionz
Design for Production
Companionz is a boutique packaging design project exploring how branding, colour and surface graphics can create a cohesive product range. Developed from a broad brief to design a new retail product, the project combines brand identity with production-aware packaging design to create a visually distinctive collection that balances personality with commercial practicality.
Challenge
The brief required the development of a new retail brand supported by three distinct product variants, each sharing a consistent identity while remaining visually unique. Alongside creating the brand itself, the project required consideration of commercial print production, packaging hierarchy and technical pre-press requirements to ensure the final designs could be manufactured successfully.
Concept
Companionz was developed as a playful boutique gardening brand inspired by the idea that different plants thrive alongside compatible companions. Each product celebrates a different planting relationship while sharing a consistent visual language, allowing the range to feel cohesive without relying solely on colour variation.

Result
Companionz demonstrates how branding and packaging design can create a cohesive retail product range while responding to the technical requirements of commercial print production. The project combines creative identity design with production-ready artwork, balancing visual appeal with practical manufacture.
Reflection
This project reinforced that successful packaging design relies on both creative thinking and technical accuracy. Refining the production artwork strengthened my understanding of commercial print requirements and highlighted the importance of designing with manufacture in mind, not just the final visual outcome.
